I am a Californian so living in the perfect weather means I am almost always in a good mood. I am a mom and wife. I work full-time in a technology job that I love on most days and that pays for my way through life. But my soul needs something else !
For my soul, I read and travel. Obsessively. Compulsively. All the time.
In my heart, I am an explorer yearning for new experiences. I can trace my love for new things to my childhood where my dad’s job took us all over India. Every other school year was an adventure into a new city, with new friends, new languages, new food and so on. And that love for discovery has continued to adulthood.
What started as a lazy experiment in my twenties to write about things that I loved has now become my most important creative outlet. Here I get to share things that I loved so much with you!
So what will you find here?
This website is a place where I will write mostly about my travel experiences, sometimes about the books that I read and once in a while, about a movie or TV show that I really enjoyed.
On Travel
I am notorious among my friends for making detailed meticulous itineraries for any trip that we take – be it weekend trip to the next town OR a 10 day vacation to another country. My trips are often planned to the minute (and this year as a personal goal, I am trying to unwind a little when on ‘vacation’), but all that detail means that there is enough research and information for anyone to use for their own trips.
So the travel section will include itineraries, travel tips, checklists that we have used in our travels.
On Books
Reading for me is as essential as breathing and I always like to get the word out there on great books. I often also use books as a gateway to understand a little bit more about the places that I go to. So check out this website for books to accompany when you travel or just great reading recommendations.
Remember, cool people read books !
Love,
Vipula
Meet my Partner in crime....
Kapil and I met in 2007 and were married in a year. We made the big move to the USA in 2009 and have built a life here. In 2013, we welcomed our son into our small family.
In all the time we have been together – we have traveled, read books, watched movies and engaged in deep philosophical discussions over many glasses of wine. Somewhere in between we have managed to find time to take care of our almost 5 year-old son.
Kapil has kept up with my crazy need to travel constantly. He has been a reluctant but enthusiastic partner in experimenting with new things, especially food.
While I do most of the writing, the photography is by Kapil. And once in while, he will drop in a post too!
So read on and comment if you like what you see!

This is very interesting but you could add more about what sort of books you like and all. 🙂
Probably do the memes.
Whatever you mentioned about the RFPs is so true, and I can empathize on that for sure 😀
I was away last week but allow me belatedly to introduce myself as suggested for BBAW.
My book blog is called Pursewarden (link attached) who, as I’m sure you know, is a character (a novelist) in the “Alexandria Quartet”, which would probably be my desert island book.
I am a speed reader – a product of being brought up in a house without television and haunting the local library – and read about 250 books a year. There is so much I could write about, but I try to restrict myself to literary fiction and you will see that the posts have a particular bias towards unjustly neglected novelists. I hope you will visit. By the way, I welcome reciprocal links with other book bloggers. It’s good to build a real sense of community and facilitate visitors moving from one blog to another.
I am also a writer myself. You may have come across “Major Benjy”, my continuation of E.F. Benson’s wonderful “Mapp and Lucia” stories, which I wrote with the blessing of Benson’s estate. There are another two of these on the way.
Best wishes, and happy blogging!
